Colombo

Indian Ocean:

We finally made it to Colombo after spending one night in Qatar on the way..... I really can't think of too much to say right now. Colombo doesn't have much to see and do, but still, we're in Sri Lanka and its definitely not like anywhere else I've ever been. After finding our way to our guest house and getting a good night's rest and a little breakfast we walked down to a train station and headed into town. My brain got fried in the warm Sri-Lankan sun today. Really.... it's red on top now. Maybe tomorrow I'll wear a hat. It was a good day. We went for a very long walk around the city.... it was loud, stiflingly hot, and congested, but not entirely unlikable. We had some amazing food..... spicy chicken curry with rice. The ocean is right here which is cool. People are friendly and helpful. One day here was enough though...... I'm looking forward to leaving the city behind and heading off to a beach about four hours south of here.

We figured if we followed these train tracks, we'd eventually get to the train station where we could get a ride into town..... It worked. The price of a round trip ticket: 30 rupees (about 25 cents)

Its that time again

Summer is here, school is out. Baltimore is undoubtedly the greatest city in America and perhaps the entire world..... but..... sometimes you just gotta go. So we're off again, lucky enough to have a little time and money this summer.

We're leaving tonight for Doha, Qatar where we'll spend a night before flying the rest of the way to Sri Lanka. Lisa and I will be there for a month before she returns to the daily grind back home and I carry on to Burma

So..... I'll be in touch.
